VINA & CHRIS | ENGAGEMENT | HOYT ARBORETUM | PORTLAND, OREGON

I was in an uproar with these two at their engagement session at Hoyt Arboretum in Portland. They cracked me up with their witty comments and fun personality. It was a beautiful fall evening and couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm so excited for their wedding because I know it will be full of fun and laughter.

HOW THEY MET

"We met online, Chris mistakened me for a girl he had previously gone on a date with and I was glad someone texted me without sounding like a creep with an Asian fetish. Our first date was over salt and straw ice cream and a walk to Mt Tabor and Laurelhurst Park." -Vina

THE SPARK

"We found out quickly that we had the same sense of humor, just full of sarcasm and wit. It was truly a natural and organic feeling like we had both known each other for the longest time. Things were spoken that didn’t need to be said between us, which neither of us had ever experienced with anyone else." -Vina

THE PROPOSAL

"A simple proposal as we’re not very creative people, but he left roses and a ring for me to find in the kitchen after I worked a night shift. I walked by it twice without even noticing it (they were red and white roses and I never have fresh flowers in the house, how did I miss it?!). Anyhow I climb into bed upstairs and he’s grinning at me as he tucks me in. “Did you see it?”, “see what?”, “I left something for you downstairs”. Lo and behold, on the kitchen table lies flowers and a ring. The icing on the cake is our trip to Turkey planned for late November to celebrate our engagement." - Vina

WHAT THEY LOVE TO DO TOGETHER

"Try seasonal flavors of ice cream at Salt and Straw or pig out on Tilllamook ice cream at home, go on scenic walks, happy hour nachos anywhere, cider tasting, fruit picking, watching movies and documentaries." - Vina

BIG PLANS FOR THE DAY

"We have a ceremony and reception at the same venue. It will be a tradional one in the sense where you’d expect vows, cocktail hour and dinner. But also untraditional, our families aren’t dancers so in lieu of a DJ and dance floor, we have a hosted mini golf course, corn hole toss, photobooth with props, a candy/sweets bar, and a fire pit for s’mores, I’m still considering a caricature artist but then I’m just a balloon artist away from turning this into a carnival. Self restraint is a good quality, I suppose. I’m expecting to invite 150 guests, how many will turn up is still an unknown to me." - VINA
