Graced by sun and beauty, Emma’s and Coleman’s wedding at River Bell Farm in Jefferson, Oregon was was absolutely beautiful for January. It was still pretty cold but we were thankful for the golden hour and the stunning sunsets.
Emma’s sister, who was also her maid of honor, planned and help organized her wedding. She made sure to utilize the existing features and lights of the River Bell Farm. They even were able to use the winter decorations from an event that the venue recently had. They made sure to keep the theme and use the evergreen decorations all around.
Emma and Coleman decided to do a no look vow reading. I was able to situate Coleman first, eyes closed and then brought Emma out, eyes closed. We got them next to each other at one of the corners of the house and were able to take a moment to soak it in before reading their vows.
Their grand exit was the ringing of the bells. We made two lines and the guests rang the bells while the couple walked down the middle and enjoyed the sounds of the bells and cheers of their guests.

How they met
We met on a trip to Japan through Corban University’s business program in May of 2019. We had seen each other two times before the actual trip for “pre-trip” meetings with the group but had not talked to each other before that despite going to the same, small university. Coleman was a business major in his last semester at Corban and I had finished my undergrad earlier that December. My dear friend Macy asked me if I wanted to travel with her to Spain or Japan; and I picked Japan. Lucky I did too because otherwise Coleman and I would have never met. We spent our time touring Japan, walking and talking together everywhere we met. We still joke and tell everyone that we met in Japan.
Couple of things they like to do together
We both like to explore, both the outdoors and new places. Hiking or walking around cities, trails, or exploring somewhere new. We’ve been apart, for work and school, for a majority of our relationship, and now that we are together more often we are expanding our shared interests. Our newest one is rock climbing and shooting. We like the regular stuff too, movies, going out to eat, mini golf.
The Spark
We were both very intentional about spending time together. After we got back from our trip to Japan, Coleman was gone with the Marines for close to a month and a half spread out between the summer months. I moved to Tacoma for school after that so we new from the beginning that if we were going to make our relationship work we had to be very intentional with our time and be honest to each other. I think we knew from the beginning.
The Proposal
Coleman and I had been talking about wanting to get married for a few months before the proposal happened. We actually went together to choose my rings and then booked a weekend in Coos Bay for just the two of us. We went on an 8 mile hike along the coast and stopped at a lookout point and that’s when Coleman proposed. It was very sweet and we are still very much excited.
Their Wedding Planning Experience
I am terrible with stress. I am excited for all of the planning and ceremony to be over so that we can take some time together and relax.
Coleman helped out as much as he could.
